Elizabeth L. Stroud

Biography

Osiyo! My name is Elizabeth Stroud, and I am the Senior Development Editor for Volume 29. I am a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation and completed my undergraduate degree at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the capital of the Cherokee Nation. While at NSU, I was honored to serve as the Vice President and then President of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) for our chapter. Additionally, I held the positions of Treasurer and Rush Coordinator for Alpha Pi Omega, Inc.'s Theta chapter, which is the first Native American sorority. Before attending law school, I worked as a Mental Health Client Advocate for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes' Tribal Defenders Office in Pablo, Montana. In that role, I provided case management and crisis intervention to clients of the Tribal Defenders Office. After my first year of law school, I interned with the Oklahoma Appleseed Center for Law and Justice, where I identified potential Brady violations in Oklahoma state courts. Following my second year, I worked for the Office of the Minnesota Attorney General's Conviction Review Unit, reviewing potential wrongful conviction claims in Minnesota. After graduation, I plan to continue my work in post-conviction and innocence claims. Outside of law school, I am an artist, an animal lover, and an auntie!
