Veronica K. Miller
My name is Veronica Miller, but I go by Roni, and I am the Editor in Chief for Volume 29! I am from Crete, NE, and a proud fourth-generation University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduate, where I studied Spanish and Political Science. I had the honor of serving as Student Regent and Student Body President during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before attending law school, I taught English at a public high school in Spain and worked on sustainability planning for the University of Nebraska system. At Iowa Law, I served as a Writing Center Tutor and will compete on the National Moot Court Team this year.
This past summer, I was an Environmental Law Program intern for the Sierra Club's National Office, supported by the generosity of the Hubbell Environmental Law Initiative. After graduation, I will return home to clerk for a federal district judge in the District of Nebraska before beginning my career in administrative law, with the goal of protecting our environment and creating safer communities for all. I love live music and comedy shows, am an avid fan of Husker athletics and women's sports, and try to get back to Nebraska as often as possible (17 of my 18 nieces and nephews live there!).
It is a great honor to serve as the EIC for JGRJ at such a critical time in our nation’s political and legal landscape. We, as a journal, are privileged enough to speak truth to power in our actions, service, and publications. I am most grateful to be advancing this work alongside an incredible team of passionate student leaders as advocates for our journal's mission. "The Journal of Gender, Race & Justice is not for the weak of heart or the timid in spirit."
