Elliott J.H. Abromeit
Editor-In-Chief
My name is Elliott J.H. Abromeit, and I am the Editor-in-Chief for Volume 28!
I grew up in Lawrence, Kansas and went to Doane University in Nebraska, where I studied Sociology, Criminology, and played on the collegiate tennis team! My sociology degree exposed me to the many flaws and inequities of our justice system and inspired me to come to law school and utilize my privilege to strive toward equity wherever I can. Upon obtaining my degree from Iowa Law, I plan on going into public defense. On the occasion that I am able to briefly escape the grasp of law school, I fill my time with friends, exercise (all-law school pickleball tournament co-champion), and a general pursuit of fun times.
Being the editor-in-chief is a massive honor to me because of how highly I regard our Journal and the Volume 28 editorial board. I truly believe that a legal education is a mantle of responsibility that we should not take lightly, and the Journal of Gender, Race & Justice is an institution that reminds us of that responsibility. Our Journal embodies the pursuit of a society that “allows us to be who we are as we are, without sanction or penalty,” and it is a privilege to be among my peers in advancing that interest.
