Thania M. Rios

Biography
My name is Thania Rios, and I’m the Senior Articles Editor for Vol. 28 of the Journal of Gender, Race, and Justice. I was born, raised, and educated in the City of Chicago, where I earned a B.A. in English from Loyola University Chicago and an M.F.A. in Writing from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My path to law school was circuitous. Before I entered the legal profession, I spent three years as an adult education instructor; and before I enrolled in law school, I spent seven years as a paralegal.
Once I made it to Iowa Law, I immediately knew that I wanted to join a law journal and make use of my background in writing. The Journal of Gender, Race, and Justice turned out to be the best choice for me, both due to its mission and the student writers with whom I had the privilege of working on Vol. 27. I enjoyed the experience enough to apply for a board position myself. I am honored by the opportunity to serve on the board of Vol. 28, and hope to carry the legacy of JGRJ into the future.
