Senior Note & Comment Editor
Hi all! I’m Veronica Stafford, Senior Note and Comment Editor for Volume 26. I took the winding road to law school. Originally from Elkhart, Iowa, I have a Bachelor’s in English and Spanish and a Master’s in Anglophone Literatures and Cultures. For a while, I thought I wanted to work in international development, and served as a WorldTeach Volunteer in Ecuador, a Maryknoll Missioner in Bolivia, and a Peace Corps Volunteer in Liberia. Then, I felt that teaching was the path for me, and was an English Teaching Assistant, an AmeriCorps VISTA member, and, for a few years, adjunct faculty in the English Departments at DMACC and Grand View. Most recently, I switched careers to social work, and worked for Catholic Charities of Des Moines and Lutheran Services in Iowa. Woven throughout was a commitment to public and national service that made The Journal of Gender, Race & Justice a natural fit. I am just as undecided about a legal career as I was about work before, but really enjoy working with clients and in the community and am looking for a career that brings those two interests together.
